Have you ever had someone who wasn’t a family member take care of you? Or maybe someone who’s providing care for your elderly parent right now? The women who provide these services are among the most important and also the most undervalued assets we have in this country. That did not go unnoticed by my next guest. She has been named by Time Magazine as one of the world’s 100 Most Influential People, is an author, and recently was out at the Golden Globe Awards as Meryl Streep’s plus one. She is Ai-jen Poo, the Executive Director of the National Domestic Workers Alliance.

When people are asked to name just one organization that is effectively addressing the gender gap in high tech and computer science, the name that springs to mind is Girls Who Code. That’s pretty remarkable for an organization that was just founded in 2012. It’s a wonderful story, and here to share it with us is Reshma Saujani, the Founder and CEO of Girls Who Code.

If I read all the things that my next guest has done, the organization she has started the causes that she has been involved with and the recognition that she has received, you would think we were about to have a panel discussion, but we’re not. She is Loreen Arbus, the first woman to head programming on a television network for Showtime and then again later at the Cable Health Network, Lifetime. And among other things is the President of the Loreen Arbus Foundation.
