Reshaping Response to Campus Sexual Assault: Callisto’s Technological Revolution
Tracy DeTomasi, the CEO of Callisto, a non-profit organization, is leveraging technology to combat the prevalent issue of sexual assault on college campuses. During her conversation with Denver Frederick on The Business of Giving, DeTomasi highlighted Callisto’s core tool, Callisto Vault, which provides survivors with a secure platform to report their experiences. Callisto Vault’s unique matching system is a critical component in identifying serial offenders and connecting survivors, a feature DeTomasi views as instrumental in making survivors feel less isolated. As the organization expands its technology to more campuses and aims for universal access, DeTomasi emphasized their strategic partnerships, trauma-informed internal culture, and efforts towards societal change. Furthermore, she shared insights about the Double Red Zone, a surge in sexual assaults post-pandemic, underscoring the ongoing relevance and urgency of Callisto’s mission.
